Discover the amazing diversity of our indigenous foods and ingredients
Scoff Something Native Classes
In conjunction with “Red Centre Enterprise, a wholly aboriginal owned local food business, and Alana Brabin from If You’re Game, Scoffed has created a unique native ingredient cooking class showcasing the best of Australian produce.
The partnership emerged from a common desire to showcase ethical local producers and share experiences with like-minded people and has resulted in a hands-on culinary and cultural experience like no other.
Meet aboriginal elder and medicine man Yuandamarra, of Red Centre Enterprises and learn what the traditional owners of this country ate before colonisation — and how it can now be translated into modern Australian fare.
Learn about Red Centre Enterprises’ work with native produce, how it is used in community and its medicinal benefits as well as their philosophy of ‘country to consumer’.
Next stop is the kitchen, where Alana Brabin will help you prepare recipes using a range of native ingredients. The freshest seasonal produce will be used; think dishes such as crocodile tacos with native lime salsa or venison and native rosemary carpaccio.
